Eligibility Criteria
- You are a citizen of India.
- You are between 18-23 years of age as on 31st December 2009. (Be prepared to furnish proof of age. A valid passport,birth certificate, school leaving certificate or driver’s license will do).
- You must not be married, pregnant or a parent.
- You or your immediate family is not related to any person employed by the organisers or sponsors. (A detailed list is given below the form, under Terms and Conditions)
- You are a natural-born female and not had a sex change.
- You are not under any commercial contract with any modeling agency at the time of appearing for the auditions.
- Once you are short listed, you cannot be a part of any other commercial contract or pageant.
- You have never participated before and won a title in this pageant in any year.
- Remember, discipline and diligence are required to follow the pageant schedule.

THE CONCEPT
Beauty pageants have always been associated with the elegance and grace. There are a couple of pageants for Indian women to showcase their talent, but the Femina Miss India Pageant is the oldest and most glamorous in the country. The Times of India group has the heritage of over four decades of conducting the only credible beauty pageant for women, Femina Miss India in all its classiness and grandeur.
As you are aware, over the years Femina Miss India pageant has changed considerably, and this year to make the pageant aspirational and take it to the next level, we plan to conduct year round activities encompassing various elements.
In addition to the pan India national contest, we will be conducting walk-ins and auditions in 13 cities including Lucknow, Agra, Indore, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Pune, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur and Shimla to scout for the right talent.
In a nutshell, will be conducting:
1. Walk-ins in across 13 Cities
2. Femina Miss India South
3. Femina Miss India East
3. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant
1. Walk-ins
The Miss India squad would be visiting various cities in the country for auditions, to look for the right talent. In conjunction with our partners, we have identified 14 cities in the South, North, West And East i.e. Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Indore, Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, Guwahati and Patna. There will be 2 sets of panel visiting these cities to scout for potential contestants.
At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds. They would sign a letter of intent confirming their participation and also be given a welcome kit with guidelines on how to prepare for the pageant.
2. Femina Miss India South
To increase and encourage participation from the southern part of the country and to invite participation nationally, we will be conducting an exclusive South-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India South, which will be third year of Femina Miss India South.
Tied-up with Sun Television Network to make the event larger than life and will focus on cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. A press conference would be held either in Chennai/ Bangalore/ Hyderabad to announce Femina Miss India South.
The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional round in Hyderabad; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in the Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India Pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant.
3. Femina Miss India East
We will also be conducting an exclusive East-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India East. We will focus on cities like Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneshwar and Guwahati. This will be the second year for Femina Miss India East. A press conference would be held in Kolkata to announce the pageant. The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional rounds in Kolkata; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in a Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant
4. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant
Pageant Phases:
Phase 1: Auditions
Auditions are conducted in cities like Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Indore and Ahmedabad. The potential candidates can walk in to apply. At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds.
Phase 2: Call for Entries
An initiative done to invite participation. The call for entries takes place through advertisements in all media panning from outdoor, television, print, radio, Internet, as well as direct mailers and tie-ups with places where the youth usually gather.The potential candidates who have missed the auditons can apply though call for entries.
Phase 3: Regional Rounds
A team of professionals scan the entries. They look for a beauty with talent and personality and girls manifesting the above are called in for the elimination round at the regional level. The chosen candidates are invited to participate in the grooming programme for the final pageant.
Phase 4: Training Programme
The training programme will be a residential programme preferably conducted wherein the contestants shall go through different kinds of sessions conducted by a panel of experts for overall beauty and personality grooming during the course of their stay. In the days leading to the final pageant, training sessions will be interspersed with a lot of outdoor activities entailing fun activities, PR activities, sub pageants, guest lectures, and more!
Phase 5: Finals
The final event is hosted amidst much fan-fare and hype. It is an event, which is niche in content, but mass in appeal. The endeavour is to conduct an event of global standards that keeps the audience engaged through the entertainment acts and elimination rounds.

Dear Geetika,
I strongly suggest that you should follow your dream and not physical appearance be in your way.
As far as having a dark complexion is concerned, you are a person and not just a color. Similarly, the new Miss India will stand for much more than just her color.
Yes, you must not be overweight. I am not saying fat people cannot be beautiful. But being overweight is a sign of bad health and this is the reason why you should maintain your body.
Your body must be proportionate, not necessarily skinny or too curvy.
If you wish to be Miss India, you must take this goal seriously. Like every other job, this also requires you to be devoted.
In my opinion, join a gym for the weight issue. Don’t care about yuor dark skin, just be sure that it is not patchy, does not have any skin disease or unsightly cuts or marks.

Hiiiii everyone!! A contestant should b atleast 5″7 2 participate in d contest. But in special cases, u will b allowed 2 participate. Others who r less than this height can participate in d Miss India Country Wide competetion. 4 this d minimum height is 5″3.

point no.1:audition was on 7th jan.just submission of form,photos.shunting was done on the basis of that…without communicating with girls ,seeing them how can you make out what are they…..even a small kid have this much sense!
i think the girls who aplied were not above 100,i know they were less then 50 even…huhhh…u are taking audition in INDIA…….HERE EVEN PMT,IIT 2-3 lakh student appear every year….then also they have HAVE PROPER 2-3 ROUNDS FOR AUDITIONING!!(I think u have heard about them……as u only say it’s a beauty cum brain pageant…….these tests r related to brains!!)

Most of the winning participants in the previous years have had their true height( as measured with a scale, bare foot and no puffed hair) around 5-4″ and 5-5″. You will know this if you have seen them personally. Some of them were slightly taller and some of them an inch shorter. So if you are tall enough, very slim and have a good personality and face, you could win!.
