All of the built-in apps on iPad were designed from the ground up to take advantage of the large, Multi-Touch screen. And they’ll work in any orientation. So you can do things with these apps you can’t do on any other device.

Safari
The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen — one whole page at a time. With vibrant colour and sharp text. So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable. And with iPad, navigating through the web has never been easier or more intuitive.

Mail
See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view, showing both an opened email and the messages in your Inbox. To see the opened email by itself you just turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large on-screen keyboard, or delete messages, with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app.

Video
The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video. You can also easily move between wide-screen and full-screen with a double-tap. And because it’s essentially one big screen, with no buttons or anything to distract you, the picture fills your line of sight.

Youtube
The YouTube app organises videos so they’re really easy to see and navigate. To watch one, you just tap it. When you’re watching in landscape, the video will automatically play in full screen.

IPOD
With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips. You can browse by album, song, artist or genre, with a simple flick. To play a song just tap it, and the now playing screen will show the album art at full size.

App store
iPad will run almost 140,000 apps from the App Store. Everything from games to business apps and more. And new apps that have been designed just for iPad are highlighted, so you can easily find the ones that take full advantage of its features. Just tap the App Store icon on the screen and you’ll be able to browse, buy and download apps wirelessly, right to the iPad.

Maps
See more of the world with high-resolution Satellite images. You can even see topography with the new Terrain view. You can also search for a nearby business type (for example, “Restaurant”) and then tap on that business to see the route and directions from your current location.

Calander
iPad makes it easy to keep on schedule by displaying Day, Week, Month or List views of your calendar. That way, you can see an overview of a whole month, or the details of a single day. iPad will even show multiple calendars at once, so you can manage work and family calendars at the same time.

Contacts
The Contacts app on iPad makes finding names, numbers and other important information quicker and easier than ever before. A new view lets you see both your complete contact list and a single contact, simultaneously. Need directions? Just tap on an address inside a contact and it’ll open Maps.

Notes
With its expansive display and large, on-screen keyboard, iPad makes jotting down notes easy. In landscape mode, you get not only a note-taking page but a list of all your notes. It even circles the current note in red. So you can see where you are at a glance.

Eligibility Criteria

1. You are a citizen of India.
2. You are between 18-23 years of age as on 31st December 2009. (Be prepared to furnish proof of age. A valid passport,birth certificate, school leaving certificate or driver’s license will do).
3. You must not be married, pregnant or a parent.
4. You or your immediate family is not related to any person employed by the organisers or sponsors. (A detailed list is given below the form, under Terms and Conditions)
5. You are a natural-born female and not had a sex change.
6. You are not under any commercial contract with any modeling agency at the time of appearing for the auditions.
7. Once you are short listed, you cannot be a part of any other commercial contract or pageant.
8. You have never participated before and won a title in this pageant in any year.
9. Remember, discipline and diligence are required to follow the pageant schedule.

THE CONCEPT
Beauty pageants have always been associated with the elegance and grace. There are a couple of pageants for Indian women to showcase their talent, but the Femina Miss India Pageant is the oldest and most glamorous in the country. The Times of India group has the heritage of over four decades of conducting the only credible beauty pageant for women, Femina Miss India in all its classiness and grandeur.

As you are aware, over the years Femina Miss India pageant has changed considerably, and this year to make the pageant aspirational and take it to the next level, we plan to conduct year round activities encompassing various elements.

In addition to the pan India national contest, we will be conducting walk-ins and auditions in 13 cities including Lucknow, Agra, Indore, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Pune, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur and Shimla to scout for the right talent.

In a nutshell, will be conducting:

1. Walk-ins in across 13 Cities
2. Femina Miss India South
3. Femina Miss India East
3. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant

1. Walk-ins
The Miss India squad would be visiting various cities in the country for auditions, to look for the right talent. In conjunction with our partners, we have identified 14 cities in the South, North, West And East i.e. Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Indore, Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, Guwahati and Patna. There will be 2 sets of panel visiting these cities to scout for potential contestants.

At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds. They would sign a letter of intent confirming their participation and also be given a welcome kit with guidelines on how to prepare for the pageant.

2. Femina Miss India South
To increase and encourage participation from the southern part of the country and to invite participation nationally, we will be conducting an exclusive South-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India South, which will be third year of Femina Miss India South.

Tied-up with Sun Television Network to make the event larger than life and will focus on cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. A press conference would be held either in Chennai/ Bangalore/ Hyderabad to announce Femina Miss India South.

The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional round in Hyderabad; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in the Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India Pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant.

3. Femina Miss India East
We will also be conducting an exclusive East-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India East. We will focus on cities like Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneshwar and Guwahati. This will be the second year for Femina Miss India East. A press conference would be held in Kolkata to announce the pageant. The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional rounds in Kolkata; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in a Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant

4. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant

Pageant Phases:

Phase 1: Auditions
Auditions are conducted in cities like Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Indore and Ahmedabad. The potential candidates can walk in to apply. At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds.

Phase 2: Call for Entries
An initiative done to invite participation. The call for entries takes place through advertisements in all media panning from outdoor, television, print, radio, Internet, as well as direct mailers and tie-ups with places where the youth usually gather.The potential candidates who have missed the auditons can apply though call for entries.

Phase 3: Regional Rounds
A team of professionals scan the entries. They look for a beauty with talent and personality and girls manifesting the above are called in for the elimination round at the regional level. The chosen candidates are invited to participate in the grooming programme for the final pageant.

Phase 4: Training Programme
The training programme will be a residential programme preferably conducted wherein the contestants shall go through different kinds of sessions conducted by a panel of experts for overall beauty and personality grooming during the course of their stay. In the days leading to the final pageant, training sessions will be interspersed with a lot of outdoor activities entailing fun activities, PR activities, sub pageants, guest lectures, and more!

Phase 5: Finals
The final event is hosted amidst much fan-fare and hype. It is an event, which is niche in content, but mass in appeal. The endeavour is to conduct an event of global standards that keeps the audience engaged through the entertainment acts and elimination rounds.

Eligibility Criteria

1. You are a citizen of India.
2. You are between 18-23 years of age as on 31st December 2009. (Be prepared to furnish proof of age. A valid passport,birth certificate, school leaving certificate or driver’s license will do).
3. You must not be married, pregnant or a parent.
4. You or your immediate family is not related to any person employed by the organisers or sponsors. (A detailed list is given below the form, under Terms and Conditions)
5. You are a natural-born female and not had a sex change.
6. You are not under any commercial contract with any modeling agency at the time of appearing for the auditions.
7. Once you are short listed, you cannot be a part of any other commercial contract or pageant.
8. You have never participated before and won a title in this pageant in any year.
9. Remember, discipline and diligence are required to follow the pageant schedule.

THE CONCEPT
Beauty pageants have always been associated with the elegance and grace. There are a couple of pageants for Indian women to showcase their talent, but the Femina Miss India Pageant is the oldest and most glamorous in the country. The Times of India group has the heritage of over four decades of conducting the only credible beauty pageant for women, Femina Miss India in all its classiness and grandeur.

As you are aware, over the years Femina Miss India pageant has changed considerably, and this year to make the pageant aspirational and take it to the next level, we plan to conduct year round activities encompassing various elements.

In addition to the pan India national contest, we will be conducting walk-ins and auditions in 13 cities including Lucknow, Agra, Indore, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Pune, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur and Shimla to scout for the right talent.

In a nutshell, will be conducting:

1. Walk-ins in across 13 Cities
2. Femina Miss India South
3. Femina Miss India East
3. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant

1. Walk-ins
The Miss India squad would be visiting various cities in the country for auditions, to look for the right talent. In conjunction with our partners, we have identified 14 cities in the South, North, West And East i.e. Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Indore, Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, Guwahati and Patna. There will be 2 sets of panel visiting these cities to scout for potential contestants.

At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds. They would sign a letter of intent confirming their participation and also be given a welcome kit with guidelines on how to prepare for the pageant.

2. Femina Miss India South
To increase and encourage participation from the southern part of the country and to invite participation nationally, we will be conducting an exclusive South-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India South, which will be third year of Femina Miss India South.

Tied-up with Sun Television Network to make the event larger than life and will focus on cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. A press conference would be held either in Chennai/ Bangalore/ Hyderabad to announce Femina Miss India South.

The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional round in Hyderabad; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in the Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India Pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant.

3. Femina Miss India East
We will also be conducting an exclusive East-based pageant, Pantaloons Femina Miss India East. We will focus on cities like Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneshwar and Guwahati. This will be the second year for Femina Miss India East. A press conference would be held in Kolkata to announce the pageant. The process of this pageant will be similar to the national level pageant where we will hold regional rounds in Kolkata; conduct a 10-day residential programme to groom the girls, which will culminate in a Grand Finale. The winner would get a direct entry into the Top 10 of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India pageant. The process will remain the same as in the case of the main pageant

4. Femina Miss India – Final Pageant

Pageant Phases:

Phase 1: Auditions
Auditions are conducted in cities like Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Indore and Ahmedabad. The potential candidates can walk in to apply. At the end of the activity in each city, local media will be invited and the selected girls will be unveiled to the media, who will further compete at the regional rounds.

Phase 2: Call for Entries
An initiative done to invite participation. The call for entries takes place through advertisements in all media panning from outdoor, television, print, radio, Internet, as well as direct mailers and tie-ups with places where the youth usually gather.The potential candidates who have missed the auditons can apply though call for entries.

Phase 3: Regional Rounds
A team of professionals scan the entries. They look for a beauty with talent and personality and girls manifesting the above are called in for the elimination round at the regional level. The chosen candidates are invited to participate in the grooming programme for the final pageant.

Phase 4: Training Programme
The training programme will be a residential programme preferably conducted wherein the contestants shall go through different kinds of sessions conducted by a panel of experts for overall beauty and personality grooming during the course of their stay. In the days leading to the final pageant, training sessions will be interspersed with a lot of outdoor activities entailing fun activities, PR activities, sub pageants, guest lectures, and more!

Phase 5: Finals
The final event is hosted amidst much fan-fare and hype. It is an event, which is niche in content, but mass in appeal. The endeavour is to conduct an event of global standards that keeps the audience engaged through the entertainment acts and elimination rounds.
